Zodiac: Jeremy Rose aka Zodiac is known for mixing R&B and a multitude of electronic sub-genres. Technically, he is Nova Scotian. Regardless, you can bet that won’t stop Toronto hip-hop enthusiasts from claiming Zodiac as one of their own. Known for The Weeknd’s breakout tracks like “Loft Music”, “What You Need”, “The Morning(Screwed)” he helped craft The Weeknd’s faded, depraved aesthetic and constructed the soundscape for the act’s initial recordings. It is a different story if he was credited correctly at the time. Back in March 2012, VICE’s Patrick McGuire covered a story pressing the issue. Eventually the tension was squashed and a settlement took place between the two artists. Since then things have been looking good for him. He has worked with rappers like The Jealous Guys and Roach Gigz. Since being featured in TNGHT‘s BBC Radio 1 Mix and then signing a writing deal with producer Paul Epworth (of Adele and Florence + the Machine Fame), Zodiac has become one of the most buzzing local and international producers who is rumoured to be working with Rihanna and A$AP Rocky.
