The Florida Gators are the first team to advance to the Sweet 16 with a 61-45 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Florida flexed their muscles and put on a defensive clinic against a tough Pittsburgh squad. Patric Young led the way on the defensive end with four blocks, along with seven points and eight rebounds. SEC Player of the Year Scottie Wilbeken had another great performance as he scored 21 points for the Gators.
This Florida team are the favorite to win it all in North Texas for the Final Four, and today’s game was another example of why they are the team to beat. Their all around defense, athleticism and scoring talent makes them a force to be reckoned with.
This is the 28th consecutive victory for the Gators which is the school record. Florida will play the winner of #12 Stephen and #4 UCLA in Memphis on Thursday for the Sweet 16.
