It’s been 30 years after The Goonies made a mark on the childhood of millions for decades after it’s release. From the looks of it a sequel seems like it might just be on the way according to the director of the original film, Richard Donner. The Goonies 2 has been a possibility for some time now but only now, with interest expressed from the original cast, like Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Corey Feldman it might just happen. The Goonies 2 would appropriately take place 30 years after the events of the first film and would feature the children of Mikey, Brand and the rest of the gang.
For those who don’t know Richard Donner has also directed comic-book films, like Superman and the Lethal Weapon films. When he was asked if he would do another comic-book film, Donner said: “If you call The Goonies a comic book – we’re doing a sequel.” Prompted to reveal which stars of the original would return he replied: “Hopefully all of them.”
