From playing college basketball at Notre Dame, to professionally playing for the Tulsa Shock, Skylar Diggins puts in work. Now she’s brought it back home with her latest philanthropic venture in her hometown of South Bend, Indiana.

On Wednesday, April 23rd, at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center in South Bend, Diggins teamed up with GENYOUth to host “Fuel Up, Play and Learn With Skylar Diggins.” The event also featured other South Bend leaders, athletes, educators, and children. Their goal: to identify solutions to improve child nutrition and fun physical activity in South Bend schools and the community.

Looking to elude the common, negative stereotype that plagues Martin Luther King Rec Centers and boulevards alike across the country, Diggins chose the South Bend location, ran by her father, Maurice Scott, because it continues to serve as an official safe haven for the community and a promoter of health and wellness.
