Prominent community activist Leonore Draper was murdered in cold blood over the weekend in Chicago after leaving a fundraiser for an anti-violence rally. This senseless murder is a major profile in what seems like a severely unbalanced fight against the city’s murder rate.

The 32 year old was gunned down in front of her home in the gun infested area known as the “Wild Hunnids” on 116th Street at about 10:30pm on Friday. Leonore was sitting in her car after leaving her “Project Orange” fundraiser, an anti-violence movement that was launched after the shooting death of 15 year old Hadiya Pendleton, when she was shot in her arm and chest. Draper was pronounced dead on the scene.

So far, police have no leads and believe that Draper was not the intended target, but an innocent victim in a drive by shooting.
