Do you ever draw your words or pictures in the air with your finger? Well, hat concept has actually come to life in a new product, the Lix 3D pen. I’m sure by now most of us have seen several posts about 3D printers and other related technologies, but this one is in it’s own category. If all goes well with their Kickstarter campaign (which is skyrocketing), the Lix pen would be the smallest on the market.
It sounds fancy, I know. But it’s really not as complicated as it seems. You don”t even need paper to use it. Similar to a glue gun, you simply plug the pen in and let it heat up, load the filament and as you hold a button down, the ink is dispersed from the tip and out comes the ink, in 3D. As instantly as the filament leaves the pen, it dries and hardens. Imagine being a designer sitting at the board table, able to create or modify a prototype on the spot, which would normally cost a substantial amount.
As time progresses, it will be very interesting to see what designers and other create individuals cook up with this thing. Study hall just got a lot more interesting.
