Looks like Queen Latifah will be putting her acting chops to good use
HBO Films is set to embark on a new project revolving around the late blues songstress Bessie Smith.
The iconic blues singer will be portrayed by none other than Queen Latifah and the film will be directed by Dee Rees the filmmaker behind the Indie Film Pariah.
The Beesie Smith biopic will share the story of how she overcame her harsh personal life struggles to become one of blues most beloved acts.
The project will be produced by HBO Films with the help of Queen Latifah’s production company Flavor Unit. There is no exact day as to when we can expect this project to get the full on-screen treatment, but you can bet The Source will have you covered when the date is set.
