Icona Pop and Refinery29 are collaborating on a series of web documentaries featuring the stylish Swedish duo Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo. We had the opportunity to see a preview of the series at the Refinery offices on Thursday. The documentary will consist of eight episodes which are five to eight minutes each. The format of the videos is very nontraditional and fun; the video follows the girls around their fabulous lives, and gives the viewer a glimpse of their thoughts, fashion picks, and musical ingenuity.

Combining such down to earth rising stars with a platform that caters specifically to women that admire them, is perfect for all parties involved. The Refinery29 reader will be interested in viewing Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt as they are touring the country. They will also appreciate the non-traditional format where they can see all the looks from the concerts and backstage, as well as their interactions in general.

What was it like touring with Miley Cyrus? Did you learn anything from her?

Icona Pop: Being on tour with Miley was a little bit of a dream come true. When we met her at the MTV Awards in Amsterdam we were like, “She’s so awesome.” She is hard working, great, but also super fun. She keeps a good vibe with her friends, the dancers, her mom, everyone is there and it’s a good vibe. It is super professional when it is work mode, but then it is super fun when it is not and that is a rare combination; especially with someone who has been doing it for a long time. We think it’s inspiring to see someone just doing exactly what she wants to and having the final decision on everything, but being so down to earth. She is a strong woman.

How did the Ty Dolla $ign collaboration come about for your new song “Party”?

Icona Pop: The song started out as a joke a long time ago like years ago. And we were like, “Hey, we should write a song about this” and we wrote the song maybe three years ago and then we wanted someone to rap on it and about a year ago Ty sent us the rap and we were like yeah we should release it, but we don’t know when and we were working hard on “I Love It,” and we kind of forgot it and months ago we said lets release it. He is such a sweetheart, super dope, and super cool. He was fun and he came to visit us and we had a party on the tour bus.

How excited are you to tour with Katy Perry?

Icona Pop: Katy is the sweetest girl on earth and I think we are going to have a lot of fun. I am super excited to see England from a tour perspective. We’ve been living there, yes we lived in London, but we haven’t seen much else. We want to drink a lot of beer and just enjoy our lovely Katy Perry. Those times when we met her she is super hilarious and a party girl.
