Chris Brown could be in some hot water, but he may not be.

Chris Brown‘s experience with the legal system over the past few months hasn’t been favorable, but he may…may..have just caught a much needed break.

It is already too late for his most recent release date–RCA Records declared a few months ago that Brown’s oft-delayed album, X, would be out on his birthday, May 5th, but considering the lack of X copies in Best Buy, we have to reason to believe that deadline wasn’t met–but Chris may actually catch the “Loyal” wave before its over. He admitted to violating his probation in court today, the penalty of which is a year in prison.

However, as Brown’s lawyer (joyously) pointed out, he has already served 234 days in prison, meaning in order to complete the “year” in jail, he’d have to serve no more than 131 days to meet the required 365 day mandate.

According to a CNN report, Chris Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, had this to say about what comes next for the troubled pop star.

I would expect that Chris should be out of jail before the weekend’s up or before Monday. If he isn’t out by Monday, then I would expect he’s getting special treatment. He’s got over 230 days credit on a 365 (day sentence) and generally the sheriff is releasing on a lot less than that.

Let’s hope he’s right. “Loyal” has been viewed on YouTube 60 million times.
