Happy 12th Anniversary to Miss E..So Addictive

Twelve years ago on this day in 2001, Missy Elliott released her third album Miss E..So Addictive. 2001 was her year as she continued to write more hits for other artists and also she released the hit singles, “Get Ur Freak On” and “One Minute Man” featuring rappers Trina and Ludacris. For the video “Get Ur Freak On” featured appearances from rappers Eve, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule, and many others. For the cover of the album, she sported a more glamorous look along with a new hair do. She started working with more r&b artists like Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, and many others. The album was nominated for two Grammy Awards for the singles, “Get Ur Freak On” and “Scream a.k. a Itchin'” for Best Rap Solo Performance and Best Female Rap Solo Performance.

Three months after the album was released, her close friend singer Aaliyah died in a plane crash and she released the video for the single, “Take Away” featuring Tweet and Ginuwine. Elliott released the video and dedicated to her late friend. The album was executive produced by her and her producer partner Timbaland. Since the album, many people have remade “Get Ur Freak On” like rapper Bubba Sparxx used the beat of the song for his debut single, “Ugly”. This time around, Elliott is working on Faith Evans‘ upcoming album, Incomparable and also her own album, Block Party where she released the single, “9th Inning” featuring Timbaland. This album would be forever remain a hip hop classic.
