Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Brooklyn Nets, Barclays, NBA Playoffs

The Nets pulled off a huge Game 7 road victory against the Toronto Raptors to advance to the second round of the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2007. They also made their series against LeBron James and the Miami Heat fairly entertaining with the huge Game 3 victory in Brooklyn and lost Game 4 and 5 in dramatic fashion.

But we must remember that the Nets were all in for this season. Their demeanor, the way they talked to the media and their cap/spending situation ($102 million 2013-14 payroll, highest in the NBA) proved that the Nets had a championship or bust mentality. Billionaire owner Mikhail Prokorov brought in Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to deliver a championship and they likely won’t be back in Brooklyn. With their departures on the way, Deron Williams reportedly saying he wants out and their struggle cap, there might be a black cloud over Barclays next season.
