United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon is calling on all parties involved in Sunday’s Ukraine national elections to make certain the election is free and fair. The Secretary-General expressed concern over Thursday’s clashes between pro-Russian separatists and Ukrainian troops. Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to accept the outcome of the election. He stated that Russia would recognize the outcome of Ukraine’s presidential vote this weekend, and said he hoped Ukraine would stop its military operations in the east.
