We had the pleasure of talking to Slug of Atmosphere recently about the collectives new album (7th overall)  Southsiders.  The conversation was a very insightful one with the 41 year old emcee talking about how his own struggle with where he is as person at this stage in his life led to much of the content of the album.

On the topic of why he named the song “Kanye West” he explained that it had to do with the idea of being so loving and passionate toward something that you wanted to fight for it.

In celebration of our 25th anniversary The Source TV will typically ask guests what The Source means or meant to them.  The answers vary and often as much as we appreciate them can often come off as bit generic, but we were all truly taken back and very appreciative of the incredible words that Slug gave us in regards t to what The Source meant to him growing up in the early days of hip hop.  Hearing someone with a very deep and introspective view of the game talk about what our publication meant to him was really an honor.
