20 Years Later, Investigation Discovery will revisit the historical O.J. Simpson trial, a prominent moment in history that re-visited the underlying themes of America.
On the night of June 12 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson, former wife of football superstar O.J. Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman were both found stabbed to death outside of Brown’s Bundy Drive condo. Ex-husband, O.J. Simpson was to be charged with the murders, but disappeared and was next seen the night of June 17 in a white Bronco, being followed by a fleet of LAPD squad cars, helicopters and media. Tonight, Investigation Discovery will revisit the 20-year-old historical trial that raised questions about race, gender and class. The documentary will include archival footage and will not include any narration. Filmmaker, Nicole Rittenmeyer along with her Brooklyn-based Every Hill Films have spent years stitching together news segments to compile enough footage for the documentary.
Simpson was acquitted in 1995 by a majority African-American jury, causing many caucasians to raise an eyebrow to the decision. Although not included in the documentary, the NFL star was later found liable for for the deaths of Brown and Goldman in a civil trial.
Tune into Investigation Discovery tonight at 9PM and tweet us @TheSource with your opinion on the documentary.
