Ruby Dee is not only an oscar nominated actress, she has done many works in activism, journalism, screenwriting and poetry. Throughout her career, she has won countless awards and starred in classic films, while having to face the struggle of battling cancer. Dee stated, “The kind of beauty I want most is the hard-to-get kind that comes from within — strength, courage, dignity.” Ruby was able to fulfill that and beat cancer and lived to the age of 91. She had a great spirit and will be remembered for decades to come.
