The New York Knicks have been in turmoil since the start of the 2013-2014 season, and per the latest ESPN report on Carmelo Anthony‘s future with the team, there’s no sign that it will stop.

ESPN is reporting that Carmelo Anthony has informed the New York Knicks that he will be opting out of his contract and testing the free agent market. There is a slight possibility that Carmelo is merely testing the free agent market to have the experience of being courted–the same experience his friends Chris Bosh and LeBron James had in the summer of 2010–but the Chicago Bulls have emerged as a serious contender for the perennial All-Star, and former scoring champion. Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher will have to make one hell of a presentation to the New York native to make Melo re-sign, as the possibility of playing alongside Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, and being coached by defensive guru Tom Thibideau looms this summer.
