Skulls always have and will always be a very prominent symbol in contemporary art. For centuries this symbol of life and death has been the inspiration for many artists. Currently the Bedford Gallery in The Bay Area has a Skull Show on display in the town of Walnut Creek. Some of the local talent exhibiting their work are Enrique Chagoya, Richard Shaw and Robert Arneson. Curator Carrie Lederer explains, “The exhibition highlights the skull as an iconic image in the contemporary arts and explores its prominent place in counter cultures such as skate, surf, tattoo, and urban graffiti projects.” The show has been on display since June 12th and will continue until August 31st.
