Amanda Longacre who recently took home the Miss Delaware crown on June 14th, 2014 has been stripped of it and her $9,000 scholarship simply because of her age. Longacre did not lie on her application which made the Miss Delaware organization fully aware of her age yet they continued to allowed her to compete. Completely unfair to Amanda, she will now have to give her crown to the runner up Brittany Lewis on Thursday. Amanda told The State News that she now has nothing to show for her efforts competing in the pageant. In order to become a contestant for the Miss America pageant all competitors must be between the ages of 17 and 24. Amanda will be turning 25 years old on October 22nd, 2014. It’s a sad day for Amanda Longacre and an unfair decision made by the Miss America Organization.
