“…But if you resist the system, you starve yourself”

When we last left Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and the gang in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, she was had seemingly brought down the Capitol, but not without some collateral damage. Her stylist Cinna (Lenny Kravtiz) had been beaten to death before her eyes and her love interest of sorts, Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) was captured along with a few other members of the rebellion against the Capitol. The new teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: The Mockingjay Pt. 1 features leader of Panem, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in a propaganda commercial, warning his constituency that they will either fall in line with their government or starve. “Your districts are the body. The capital is the beating heart. Your hard work feeds us, and in return, we feed and protect you,” President Snow says. “But if you resist the system, you starve yourself. If you fight against it, it is you who will bleed,” he threatens.
The biggest shocker comes toward the end of the clip in which Peeta is revealed, not only alive and well but standing by the malevolent leader’s side, stoic and seemingly disconnected from everything around him. The trailer sets the tense, and dark mood illustrated within the Suzanne Collins’ book afterwhich the movie is based off of.
Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Game of Thrones veterans Gwendoline Christie and Natalie Dormer, along with the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman will all star in the film which is slated for a November 21 release.
