Film Review: ‘Tammy’ Is A Hilarious Road Trip Movie

Tammy starring Melissa McCarthy comes out this Wednesday, July 2.

You’re driving down the highway and hit a moose, causing you to be late for work. You’re late for work and your sweaty boss fires you, causing you to go home early. Your car breaks down after hitting the moose and you walk home to find your husband making dinner for your neighbor. You engage in some not so friendly combat with the woman where you then find yourself leaving to your parents’ house. After a few back and forth minutes of yelling, you get your grandma to lend you her car, just as long as you take her along for the ride.

All of that happened within the first ten minutes of Tammy, a hilarious road trip movie starring Melissa McCarthy as Tammy and Susan Sarandon as her grandmother Pearl. Written by Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone, the film stars other icons like Kathy Bates, Sandra Oh, Gary Cole, Mark Duplass, Dan Akroyd and more. Tammy follows Tammy and Pearl through a number of situations in which the two try to find what they’re looking for, as well as come closer together.
