Kyrie Irving is in it for the long haul with the Cleveland Cavaliers as the star point guard agreed to a five-year, $90 million max contract with the team to be signed when the NBA free agency moratorium lifts on July 10.
There were rumors that Irving was unhappy in Cleveland and even rumblings that he would be traded but Irving tweeted how happy he was to be staying with the team. With new general manager David Griffin leading the front office effort and David Blatt having recently been named head coach, Irving clearly felt comfortable enough to commit for the long-term.

The questions that now remain are what pieces will be placed around Irving. Bringing back LeBron James is an extremely long shot but the Cavaliers will still reach out to James’ agent Rich Paul. In addition to Irving the Cavaliers now have Andrew Wiggins whom they drafted with the No. 1 overall pick so things can begin to look up for the team.
