One of the big free agent guards is officially off the market. Kyle Lowry reached an agreement on a four-year, $48 million contract extension with the Toronto Raptors, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Lowry was expected to seek a five-year deal but it appears he instead elected for an ETO (early termination option) after the third year.
Retaining Lowry was the No. 1 priority for Raptors’ general manager Masai Ujiri. Lowry was highly coveted and was a target by teams such as the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets.
Lowry averaged 17.9 points, 7.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. He led Toronto to the playoffs for the first time in five years before they lost in a seven-game series to Brooklyn. It did however reignite the fan base as they now look forward to brighter future.
