The Houston Rockets offseason this year was very much disappointing considering the possibilities. They didn’t land Carmelo Anthony or Chris Bosh, they let Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin go for practically nothing and they lost Chandler Parsons after not matching his three-year, $45 million offer sheet from the Dallas Mavericks. What they did manage to do was land Trevor Ariza on a four-year, $32 million contract but is that enough? Well Dwight Howard thinks they’ll do just fine because they have him and James Harden.

“It won’t affect us at all,” Howard said Friday of Parsons signing a three-year, $45-million deal with the Dallas Mavericks. …
“We have myself and James,” Howard said. “We have the best center and the best two guard in the game on the same team. It’s on us.”
Howard, who spoke at his father’s 10th annual Howard/Howard basketball camp in Atlanta, said he wishes his former teammate well with the Mavericks. But Howard said he and Harden will be able to carry the load without the 25-year-old Parsons, who had career highs with 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists for the Rockets last season.
Every player is supposed to have confidence in themselves and their team but clearly the Rockets dropped the ball here. They took a big hit this offseason and getting out the first round of the playoffs is going to be quite a task.
