17 years ago today, Art of War was released making this Bone Thugs-N- Harmony’s fourth multi- platinum album. The album featured the late  2pac Shakur and Mr. Maje$ty. It’s home to the platinum selling hit ” Look into my eyes” along with “If I Could Teach The World”. Some say the album was supposed to be named “DNA Level C” which is Cleveland backwards as we know the group originates from Ohio.  The purpose of the album was to mention how copycats seem to be riding the coattails of their chart success. Years later this still seems to be a relevant issue in music today.

Art of War wasn’t a fan favorite. Listeners felt the album didn’t necessarily have to be a 2 disc but was a good strategy in order for sales. There’s no doubt the 90’s group still affects hip hop today. Their influence has led them on the road to 360 this September, a concert featuring other hip hop legends at the Barclay’s Center.
