Mix being a young vet in the comedy game meshed with the knowledge of an uber informed sports fanatic—and you’ve got Von Decarlo.
A regular expert every Friday night on Centric TV’s According to Him + Her hosted by Free and Brian Hooks, Decarlo dishes tips on dating, social skills and the concept of ‘no romance without finance,’while sharing insight on male and female’s daily indiscretions.
In addition to the show on Centric, she’s getting digital looks too! She hosts #CoachVon’s Playbook, a segment on Centric’s Instagram page that is posted every Thursday at 3 PM ET. In #CoachVon’s Playbook, CoachVon puts on her helmet going into the trenches while offering witty commentary and advice blended with sports analogies that relate to real life experiences. The show marries topical issues like the Miami Heats’ Dwyane Wade and his fiancée, Gabrielle Union’s loyalty concerns with a splash of LeBron James’ loyalty to his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers. “You will not hear me talk about sports from a typical woman’s perspective,” said Decarlo.
“When I say that I know what I’m talking about, I don’t want my boobies involved with that.”

Speaking of talent, Decarlo balances the role of actress and single mom and credits her business acumen and the understanding of the adult dating landscape to her life time partner—late comedian Patrice O’Neal. A regular on the Opie & Anthony radio show and character on the hit television show, The Office, O’Neal died in 2011 after complications from a stroke. “I’m a better woman because of him and I’m a better mother because of him,” Decarlo tells The Source.
“I’m a better overall person because of him.”
