Pop superstar Janet Jackson is currently in the studio working on her eleventh album, an R&B record producer Ian Cross confirmed in an interview with Barefoot Sound.

The new album is going to be great. It’s a process. There’s a lot in store, yet to come. I can’t go into too many details but I think Janet Jackson’s fans are going to be very excited about the new album, and I think people who don’t know her as fans are going to be excited about it, too.

Cross engineered the last three of Janet Jackson’s studio album, and because he’s been so heavily involved in her music, they began to develop a personal relationship with one another.

Janet [Jackson] and I had a little bit more of a special relationship because we became friends naturally. You meet a lot of people and you become friends with a couple of them, but sometimes there is one person you become really good friends with…She asked me to work on an album with her called Discipline in 2007 and, again, just do the same thing, produce the vocals. That led to her hiring me full-time to work with her. That’s where I’m at now.

Cross also revealed that Janet has been recording in all parts of the world, such as: Qatar, Paris and the Middle East,  “the Janet Jacksons of the world can’t just spend their time in one city anymore,” he says.

Update: Shortly after Cross’ interview went viral, Janet Jackson clears up the new music rumors (which didn’t necessarily confirmed nor denied anything):
