Robin Williams has died in what is being reported as a suicide by police in Tiburon, California. The beloved Academy Award-winning actor known best for his roles in Mrs. Doubtfire, Flubber and Dead Poet’s Society was found in his apartment around noon earlier today after a neighbor phoned into 911 claiming Williams was “unresponsive” at his home.
The official medical press release from the Marin Police Department is preliminarily calling Williams’ death a suicide, official ruling is dependent on the medical examiners findings. Williams was 63.

It has been confirmed by his representatives that Williams had been in treatment for “continued sobriety” at Minnesota’s Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center over the summer. It is also being reported that Williams died of asphyxia due to having hanged himself. No suicide note was found, and Williams assistant was the person who found him.
