Both parties have spoken
Earlier this morning, Janay, Ray Rice‘s wife, made a public statement via her Instagram about the volcanic eruption that occurred in the media yesterday when TMZ released video footage of Ray’s assault on her to the internet. She defended her husband, and scolded the media and the general public for taking away everything Rice has worked for–he was banned indefinitely from the NFL, cut by the Ravens and dropped from Nike in a 24 hour span–before declaring she was stil “Ravensnation!”
Finally, Ray Rice has released a brief statement to ESPN’s Josina Anderson now that the initial shock wave is over and he now has to start weighing his options.
I have to be strong for my wife. She is so strong. We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us and we’ll continue to support each other. I have to be there for (Janay) and my family right now and work through this.
We said it was brief. Chances are, Rice won’t be commenting on the actual assault or the video considering he’s still involved in an ongoing legal investigation, but it’ll be a miracle if we find him on an NFL team any time soon. In fact, there’s a greater chance he finds himself in a jail cell than there is of him catching any lateral passes in the near future.
