Expect the unexpected…
Lauren Morelli, a writer behind hit prison drama “Orange is the New Black” has filed for divorce from her husband of 2 years, Steve Basilone, and has been reportedly dating one of the show’s stars since the beginning of the year.
According to TMZ, the former couple filed a joint petition for divorce, and has agreed an amicable settlement. Lauren gets her Lexus, her apartment and her sapphire engagement ring. While Steve gets their other car, the Mazda hatchback.
Moreover, one would think Steve would be very bitter about the divorce, but in fact, he was very supportive. He encourages people to tune into the show that helped Lauren realize her true feelings.

However, once the show actually started filming, it reassured Lauren even more—she likes women.
I realized I was gay in fall 2012, one of my first days on the set. I went through it all on set: I fell in love with a woman, and I watched my life play out on screen.
Lauren’s new GF is actress Samira Wiley, 27, who plays Poussey Washington in the series. They were seen walking out from an after party at the Chateau Marmont hand-in-hand.
