Love & Basketball is one of the most popular movies in the history of Hip-Hop culture. That’s a fact. It’s the 9th highest-grossing basketball film of all-time, but it’s the African-American version of Titanic, and it defined an entire generation’s idea of what real romance is.  So, one can imagine the frenzy someone sent the internet in when they tweeted a fake flyer for the sequel to the 2000 film, written by Gina Prince-Bythewood.

Unfortunately, Prince-Bythewood took to Twitter today confirm that Love & Basketball 2 is NOT happening. Turn that frown upside down, we know.

Bythewood prevented the internet from breaking, which it would’ve had cult Love & Basketball fans gotten wind of the fact that there would be a sequel dropping on VALENTINE’S DAY of 2015 (of all days), but she certainly broke the hearts of quite a few. Still, we push onward.
