LG hosted their “Art of the Pixel” Powered by LG Ultra HD 4K and OLED TV awards last night at the beautiful Gotham Hall using the rotund space as a backdrop for their gorgeously animated projections.

The company set up projectors to create a seamless 360 degree display on the round ceiling of the hall to showcase the finalist’s designs as well as other masterful pieces of contemporary art, such as Van Gogh’s Night Sky.  The ambiance was set with a live trio of string instruments to supplement the classical music flowing out of the venue’s surround sound speakers. The black tie event was star studded, with Sarah Jessica Parker, Neil Patrick Harris, Kevin Spacey, and Sam Smith in attendance. LG executives as well as top tech and art enthusiasts joined to congratulate the nine finalists from the top art schools in the United States. The event was hosted by LG executive, David Vanderwaal, head of marketing of LG USA.

Neil Patrick Harris hosted the award ceremony, awarding the winner, John Summerson, for his piece, “Painting From Life” and the runner-up, Joseph Bui. The winner took home a prize and a $50,000 grant for his school, Pacific Northwest College of Art to support its art education programs. The runner-up was also awarded a prize and $25,000 grant for his school, Pratt Institute. All nine finalists took home an LG 34-inch Ultra Wide HD monitor to further their creativity. A three course dinner was served as guests mingled with others at their assigned tables. Throughout the dinner, LG debuted and demonstrated their new 66- and 77-inch 4K Ultra HD TV with OLED technology and a curve to create an immersive experience for the user. To top off the fantastic night, LG invited Sam Smith to perform a private concert for the guests, ending the night with his hit single, Stay with Me.
