I know I’m not the only one who noticed her last name.

Sunday night, Charlo Greene was over it. After reporting a segment on KTVA, the Alaskan news program she works for, about the Alaska Cannabis Club and their recent efforts to legalize medical marijuana Greene announced that she was in fact the owner of the club. She also announced that she would be quitting her job as a reporter to focus on the fight for legalization, ending her statement with a simple “fuck it” before just walking off set.

Greene left her fellow reporter floundering to apologize and keep the news report moving after her mic drop:

“Now everything you’ve heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska. And as for this job, well, not that I have a choice but, fuck it, I quit.”

Greene said she decided to quit in such a dramatic way in order to bring awareness to the issue and to gain support for her group. Started earlier this year, the Alaska Cannabis Club helps connect people who own medical marijuana cards with other cardholders who produce it, sending these producers “donations” to reimburse them for the cost of growing the medicine.

It makes sense that Green would make this announcement now, as Alaskans are gearing up to vote on November 4th on whether or not to legalize recreational use of weed like they did in Colorado.

Props to Charlo for committing to a great cause and keeping it very real in the process.
