John Crawford III was gunned down while holding a pellet gun–which was facing the ground–in an Ohio Walmart last month. The fallout was immediate, and many were in outrage over the fact that the pellet gun Crawford was holding was previously sitting in an open case a few aisles away from where he stood and is a product that Walmart regularly sells. He hadn’t pointed the gun at anyone in the store, and there was eyewitness testimony that validated that claim. However, when police officers stormed the Walmart looking for the man who was “was a gentleman walking around with a gun in the store” and “like, pointing it at people”–which was the testimony of the man who called authorities; the same man who ended up changing his story after the fact to say that Crawford was in fact not pointing the pellet gun at anybody–they immediately opened fire, and Crawford didn’t stand a chance.

It’s time for you to judge for yourself. Were the officers justified in their actions? A grand jury has already decided that there isn’t enough evidence to press charges, but should the Beavercreek PD be held accountable in the court of public opinion? The surveillance footage is below for those interested. Warning: the shooting takes place on camera.
