As we are cutting close to the upcoming 2014-2015 NBA season, fans and basketball enthusiasts can begin rehearsing their inner “Stephen A. Smith” repertoire as the anticipation of great debate is slowly approaching. The prime question that is up for grab is the infamous, consistently controversial and notorious topic of….who is the best/most underrated player in the NBA? Is it King James? Is it Kevin Durant? Is it Stephen Curry? or…is it the return of “Mr. Fast Don’t Lie”, Derrick Rose? One superstar courageously came out and put his own two senses into the conversation and is definitely ready to let his game back up his bold assumption. That NBA superstar that we are referring to is New York Knick superstar combo forward, Carmelo Anthony. Recently, Melo had a discussion with ESPN columnist Chris Broussard and told the established analyst that he believes he doesn’t get the credit he deserves for how skilled he is. Interesting words by the former Syracuse All-American who led the Knicks to just 37 wins and a couple of games shy of making the NBA playoffs last season. Many sources and fans believed that Melo’s supporting cast were lack luster, giving the superstar an unappealing chance to make magic happen in the place of where the mecca of basketball is located at. Last season, Anthony averaged 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists a game, worthy numbers in which NBA coaching legend and president of operations of the New York Knicks Phil Jackson resigned the 7 time All Star to a whopping 5 year, $124 million dollar contract this summer. The Red Hook-born scoring machine has already been prepping for this upcoming season, losing up to 15 pounds to help himself become more athletic and elusive just how he was during his young playing days at Denver. Only time will tell as the Knicks will open up their 2014-2015 NBA season going up against Lebron James, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 30. Make sure you mark that down on your calendars because this could be a awesome start to what could potentially be one of the most competitive and highly entertaining NBA seasons in recent years.
