Australian Rapper Iggy Azalea is seemingly getting a divorce — but she didn’t know she was married.
The 24-year-old “Fancy” rapper ex Maurice Williams (Hefe Wine) claims he and Azalea were common-law married in the state of Texas and now he’s filed legal papers to end it, TMZ reported.
According to Williams, Azalea “agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the State of Texas on or about September, 2008.”
However, the story is the complete opposite on Azalea’s end.
“They only dated for around six months,” a source told the Daily News. “This is just another attempt to try and get money from Iggy when she was never married to him.”
Williams and Azalea are not even on good terms. They are currently at war with one another since the rapper is accusing him of unlawfully releasing her early music tracks without her permission, according to the Daily News.
Williams is also the guy who claimed to make a sex tape with her last month. Azalea, at first, denied the existence of the tape but her team then claimed that the video may have been shot “without her knowledge or consent.”
“It’s disappointing that this thief, felon and fugitive is continuing to use the media to attack Iggy as part of his desperate and despicable attempt to keep himself in the press,” a spokesperson for Azalea told the News.
“Iggy’s federal court complaint froze Mr. Williams’ ability to trade on her fame by profiting from music he stole from her, so he has resorted to elevating his predatory relationship with a 17-year-old girl into a sham ‘marriage’ claim unsupported by any certificate or evidence.”
Furthermore, Azalea is now in a year-long relationship with Lakers star Nick Young.
