In an over-saturated market where independent rap acts are a dime a dozen, it isn’t too often that an artist comes along and totally blows us away, but on this blustery October day, Khary Durgans has succeeded in doing just that. Ā The Providence, RI lyricist recently premiered his video for “The Giving Tree” via The Signal, a series of music videos curated by All Def Digital, the Amir Abbassy spearheaded brainchild of Russell Simmons and Steve Riffkind. Ā The track, likely named after Shel Silverstein’s similarly-titled classic childhood book, boasts all the trappings of the perfect song: Ā stellar production, smooth delivery, and clever wordplay–but most importantly, he’s actually saying something.
