It’s a blessing to our ears when an artist isn’t afraid to experiment with different sounds and it actual feels like a nice summer breeze while you’re listening. Florida native (Little Haiti to be exact) and R&B thrills feel, Villz is bold when it comes to that as well as good wordplay. Remember when guys used to really sing about women, a little heartbreak, yes, the player factor too, but it seems like there was so much more honesty. Now, that we’re off our venting session about the “good old days” we can still experience the past with a twist of the present and the future of what R&B is and going to be. Villz gives a modern sound with the swoons and croons of passion, when you find yourself trying to remember a time similar to what he’s talking about in songs, like his latest, Appreciate.
At first listen you may think it’s where Frank Ocean left off, but something is way different, the details are there, the voice is stronger, the writing is well and the production is executed with every note in tune. Think the words of Frank Ocean, the masculinity of Morris Chestnut, the soothing appeal of The Weeknd, the unique texture sound of The Dream then forget all of that and welcome Villz.
