Singer-songwriter Jeremih has definitely been enjoying a resurgence of sorts in 2014. In the past few months, he has appeared as a guest on countless songs and his YG assisted single “Don’t Tell Em”, which samples Snap!’s 1992 single “Rhythm Is a Dancer” is sitting at the top of the charts. Oddly enough, the song has been out for a months, the Chicago native has yet to shoot a video to accompany the single, which would further propel it on TV as well as digitally. Furthermore, his highly anticipated project, Late Nights: The Album, which was slated for release on September 30 is still on the cutting room floor. In a recent interview with Billboard, Jeremih addressed these issues and more, hinting at what might be some turmoil with his label, Def Jam as well as a custody battle with the mother of his 2-year old son.

On not having a visual for his hit:

“I blame myself,” the singer says, sitting on the rooftop of West Hollywood hotel Palihouse. “I had a video scheduled. I just didn’t show up to it because of…” he trails off, declining to elaborate. “I’m not going to point my finger at somebody else at this point.”

“When you can count on your hands how many videos you’ve done in your career, when you’ve never performed your hits on TV, something’s not right. Everyone always wants to say I’m shy. I don’t think so, but there’s a disconnect with my fans. I want my fans to see me — that’s what they never do.”

His absence:

“My label is hesitating and not being on my side. I stopped caring about being Jeremih over the last few months,” he says. “A lot of people don’t know I have a 2-year-old son. His mom wasn’t allowing me to see him, and it was messing with me. I was internally unbalanced. But I just got out of that trial and I won. I want to show some skin now,” he says. “Over the next few months, if you don’t hear about me, something’s wrong.”

Hopefully Jeremih can seize the moment and capitalize on his current success.

Rocko likes the song ‘Don’t Tell ‘Em’, he plays it ignorantly loud while driving his automobile. @Rocko_CNK
