Earlier today, news reports broke that the grand jury charged with the task of deciding whether or not Darren Wilson should be indicted for his actions on the day he fatally shot unarmed teenager Michael Brown six times. A USA Today report confirmed moments ago that Darren Wilson will not be indicted, via the family of Michael Brown, and the official announcement has now come in from Ferguson.
News reports have surrounded this story all day, including reports from several sources that Wilson has been secretly meeting with television anchors all week to line up a news interview with either Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon, or another nationally syndicated news anchor. Cooper admitted that Wilson chose not to interview with him, but Lemon did confirm via Twitter that he did meet with Wilson.
Authorities have taken extra security measures in anticipation of tonight’s announcement, and several stores and businesses in the St. Louis, Missouri chose to close very early tonight to avoid what many believe could be a chaotic scene in Ferguson once the decision is announced.
