Demar Derozan is one of the most talented and important pieces of the 2014-2015 Toronto Raptors, who currently have the league’s best record at 12-2. Drake, the team’s global ambassador, also has a tight relationship with many of the players, even the newly arrived Lou Williams, who was just named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player Of The Week. While on the NBA TV Fan Night Pre-Game show discussing Drake’s relationship with the Raptors with Chris Webber, Derozan mentioned that Drake said he’d give Derozan a copy of his mixtape, Derozan says is “coming out in January.”

Drake hasn’t done a mixtape since 2009’s So Far Gone, which was his breakout project, and earned him two Grammy nominations. Drake’s new album, Views From The 6, has already been announced and is certainly on the way, but could Drizzy be releasing a free project before that? Or was Derozan referring to VFT6, and using the term “mixtape” a little loosely?

There’s also a chance there’s no validity to his statement whatsoever, and he’s just helping Drake throw attention-getting smokescreens into the atmosphere. Or, all of the above. Either way, watch the clip here. Derozan’s “slip-up” occurs at 5:20.
