The kids are alright
Before Kevin Durant went down with a broken foot shortly before the start of the current NBA regular season and Russell Westbrook fractured his hand a week in, the Oklahoma City Thunder were on everybody’s NBA title contender list. However, because of injuries to their two superstar players, the Thunder are currently cellar dwelling in the Western Conference, while teams like the Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies are running the table.
Well, all that may be about to change. Last week, Russell Westbrook came back in a big way, and had a career half against the Knicks, going for 32 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in just two quarters, and tonight, ESPN‘s Brian Windhorst is reporting that barring pre-game shoot-around injury or discomfort, Kevin Durant is expected to play his first game minutes of the new season on the road against the Pelicans. The Thunder, who were so badly injured at one point they had to sit more players than they could dress, have weathered the November storm and if they stay healthy, could be back to their winning ways pretty soon.
