By now everyone is familiar with St. Louis Rams players Jared Cook, Stedman Bailey and Chris Givens coming out during their pre-game warmups this past Sunday with their hands raised in support of the protesters in Ferguson, MO. The gesture, which signifies “hands up, don’t shoot”, has become a form of solidarity between everyone who is opposed to the non-indictment of officer Darren Wilson in the shooting that occurred in the St. Louis area suburb.

Immediately following their game Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, The St. Louis Police Officers Association released a statement saying that they were “profoundly disappointed” with the actions of the players and demanded that the NFL discipline them. The league quickly retorted, saying that the players are entitled to free speech.
