Daniel Pantaleo is the cop who used a banned maneuver, known as the chokehold, to physically take down Eric Garner to the ground in Staten Island–a maneuver that resulted in his death, as per confirmed analysis from a medical examiner. Furthermore, unlike the controversial Michael Brown shooting, the incidents leading up to Garner’s death–the chokehold included–was caught on tape. Yet, in his testimony to Internal Affairs officials, Daniel states that he did not use the chokehold. According to a New York Post report, Pantaleo’s attorney had this to say about the classification of his takedown.

We have always maintained it was never a chokehold. It was takedown procedure he was instructed in how to perform while in the police academy.

Right.
