Billboard celebrated women in music.
Singers Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and many others made their appearance at the Billboard Women In Music Event that took place at New York City’s Cipriani Wall Street. The women gathered as they celebrated of the music industry’s most successful women, from pop stars to major record label executives, who all appear on Billboard‘s annual Women in Music power list.
This year list included newcomers Jesse J, Iggy Azalea, Charlie XCX, Ariana Grande, Hayley Williams, and Idina Menzel and also veterans singers Aretha Franklin & Taylor Swift. Female empowerment is the subject for the honorees, who spoke of overcoming obstacles in their careers and how it dominated in 2014. One surprise of the night came from Aretha Franklin as she sang “Happy Birthday” to Taylor Swift, which was the best present for Swift.
