The Hindi movie “PK” hit theaters on Friday December 19, 2014 in 200 theaters across the country.  This movie is about an alien from a distant planet, Peekay (Aamir Khan) who comes to Earth to study the way that humans live their lives.  Unfortunately, the remote in which he is able to get home is stolen  from him and from that he is forced to live out his life on Earth until he can find his stolen item.  It is there that he meets this TV reporter Jaggu (Anushka Sharma) who decides to help him find his remote while at the same time bring down a giant religious fraud that is happening all around India.

Aamir Khan performed wonderfully, really dedicating himself to being an awkward, confused, yet lovable character.  His jokes all come from the idea that he does not understand the everyday lives of humans, and although many of them seem to be silly jokes, they land so well all because we, as the audience, believe that this is who he is and that these are very genuine jokes.  This ability is something that Aamir excels at in many of his movies and is something that many actors strives to accomplish throughout all their years working.  This movie puts Aamir in the amazing spotlight that he deserves and is one of his best performances to date.

Anushka is also a fantastic actor.  She is the definition of “the girl next door” in that manner that she is quirky, goofy, fun loving, and earnest.  As you get to know her character, you will, without a doubt, fall in love with everything about her, and that sort of thing can only be attributed to Anushka’s amazing ability to act.  Her range of emotions goes far in that she is able to love Peekay with her whole heart but at the same time still be able to hold on to that feeling of having her heart ripped into two by Sarfraz.  The level of depth and complexity of this character isn’t something you get right away, but looking back at it after you leave the theater, you will fully understand who this character really is and what she represents. Anushka is really able to really get the level of depth that her character possesses almost seamlessly, and with that, Anushka deserves all the praise that can be afforded to her.
