Last month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton took in a basketball at the Barclays Center between the Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers. While the two announced their partnership between the Royal Foundation and the NBA.

Fast forward to the new year. The New York Knicks face the Milwaukee Bucks in an exhibition game next week in London. Prince Harry and the Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony will present the first graduates from The Royal Foundation’s Coach Core program with their certificates at a ceremony at St James’s Palace on Wednesday January 14.

Think of it as the NBA and the Royal family round two! 

The 32 graduating apprentices have successfully completed the Coach Core program run in partnership with Glasgow Life in Scotland and with Greenhouse Charity in London.The Coach Core program has trained young people who were struggling to find positive prospects, to become professional sports coaches and mentors.

Both the Prince and Anthony will meet with the graduating apprentices before joining the formal graduation ceremony at which Prince Harry will speak. They will also be joined by retired NBA center John Amaechi, one of the first English basketball players to play in the league and a leading advocate for the power of good sports coaching. Prince Harry will join the graduates and their guests at a reception afterwards.
