Well, at least it wasn’t drugs
Please dont’ be alarmed. This man has not designed a body suit of bombs acting as Apple iPhones. He’s actually strapped himself with just short of 100 actual iPhones, which he intended to smuggle in China. Why smuggle something you can buy on Amazon? Well, according to The Verge, it’s fairly common for people to smuggle in stolen phones which are understandably in very high demand given China’s exponentially and rapidly expanding tech scene. This also isn’t the first time authorities have seen the “body armor” technique used to get the product into the country.
[…] so-called “mobile armor” is a fairly common tactic for phone smugglers. Police noticed this particular smuggler due to “weird walking posture, joint stiffness, and muscle tension,” an obvious result of covering your entire body in touchscreens.
The phones are currently in custody of authorities, and the smuggler is probably facing serious jail time. Oh how ironic it’ll be when he asks for his one phone call.
