The Paddington Bear first appeared in children’s books in 1958 and was illustrated by Peggy Fortnum. After the loved plush bear gained popularity, Paddington then became a children’s cartoon that aired in London in 1975. For the past half-century, the Paddington Bear has been a classic symbol of many childhoods.
Now the beloved Paddington bear is coming to the big screen. The movie stars Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman and is brought to you by Harry Potter producer David Heyman. Director Paul King and a group of creative enthusiasts bring little Paddington Brown to life in a magical way. After a disastrous earthquake and the death of his Uncle Pastuzo in Darkest Peru, the well-mannered and nameless bear sets sail for London with a suitcase full of marmalade.
He comes to London hoping to have a warm welcome from the wonderful city, but all he gets is a cold shoulder. As he tries to figure out how to find a home for himself, the Brown Family of four befriends the talking bear and names him after the train station they found him at, Paddington. The Brown Family offers him a place to stay for one night, but each family member starts to grow a wonderful relationship with the bear. Although Paddington is an unintentional troublemaker in the Brown residence, his personality brings the family joy and laughter.
The movie will infuse you with good spirits and smiles with a dash of drama and terror. As soon as little Paddington starts to get settled in London, an obsessed taxidermist becomes aware of the talking bear and tries to capture him to add to her diverse collection of animals. Paddington is terrific and it also embraces good values and rekindles family joy and love.
