Early Thursday morning, Lil B was awoken by his neighbor banging on his door. A fire, which reportedly started in the garage of the unit, had spread through the two-story duplex where the rapper lives.

According to Lil B, some of his music and clothing were destroyed in the flames. Fire crews estimated total damages to be $350,000.

“I’m grateful to be alive,” Lil B said. “If that kid didn’t come knocking on my door …”

The kid, 15-year-old Mateo Ysmael, also saved his stepmom and three siblings from the fire.
