Some ladies may not sit well with this idea, but a 109-year-old woman says the key to a long life is to avoid men. Jessie Gallan is the oldest living woman in Scotland, and she’s quite literally an “old maid”; she’s never been married.  “The secret to a long life has been staying away from men.  They’re just more trouble than they’re worth,” she explains.

As difficult a life this may seem for some women, could this separation from the opposite sex have truly contributed to Ms. Gallan’s 109 years?

Besides abstaining from men, she also mentions a bowl of warm porridge daily and plenty of exercise has played a key role in her long life as well.

The oldest person in the world is 116-year-old Misao Okawa from Japan.  Okawa has been a widdow for over 83 years, so there may be some truth in Gallan’s theory.  Some may argue that there’s no point to life if you have no one to share it with, but that debate is up for discussion!
